According to the Migration Policy Institute, approximately 545,000 foreign-born individuals reside in Colorado, accounting for 10% of the state’s population. Overall, 5.9% of Colorado’s population has difficulty speaking English.
We know from years of research that patients with limited English proficiency (LEP) are among the most vulnerable populations. They experience high rates of medical errors and worse clinical outcomes than English-proficient patients do.
CCHA’s Commitment to Access
At CCHA, we are committed to reducing barriers for individuals with LEP and those who are deaf and hard of hearing - ensuring all members have equitable access to the care and services they need. We accomplish this by providing access to translation or interpreter services for all CCHA members and all covered services.
How can members access interpreter services?
CCHA provides free interpretation services to assist in communication between health care providers and members whose primary language is not English. To request language assistance, contact CCHA Member Support Services.
Please note: To schedule face-to-face interpreter services, please allow 72 hours. To cancel, please provide notice 24 hours in advance.
How can members access services for hearing loss, visual and/or speech impairment?
Members with hearing loss or speech impairment can call the designated Colorado state relay number – 711. The Colorado relay service is available 24 hours a day. Members can also request face-to-face sign language interpreters by contacting CCHA Member Support Services.
How can members request translated materials?
Members can request translation of materials into non-English languages or alternative formats such as large font by contacting CCHA Member Support Services.
How can providers access interpreter services?
