With some primary care clinic hours and operations changing due to COVID-19, you may be wondering: Can my family and I still get the preventive or routine care we need to stay healthy?
The answer is yes! As Colorado moves into the next phase of the COVID-19 response, we want to remind you of the importance of getting the care you need to protect your health. Avoiding appointments can increase risk of more serious illness.
Safely get the care you need
Our practices are committed to getting you the care you need, in the way that works best for you. If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes, COPD or high blood pressure, it is important to continue your care plan and stay in touch with your provider.
If you have postponed any procedures, now is a good time to consult your provider about scheduling an appointment.
Virtual Appointments
In alignment with recommendations from our public health officials to stay at home when possible, many health care providers have rapidly expanded their telehealth (virtual appointment) services. Telehealth appointments allow patients to speak with their providers over the phone or video chat from the comfort and safety of their own homes. Telehealth visits are an easy, convenient way to get non-urgent care. If you’re interested in scheduling a telehealth appointment, call your provider to discuss your options.
In-person appointments
If you need to see your provider for a face-to-face appointment, call to schedule an appointment. Many providers are extra taking precautions to keep clinics safe such as:
- Ensuring they have necessary supplies, equipment, and appropriate staffing to care for patients
- Screening everyone for fever and symptoms of COVID-19 before they enter the healthcare facility
- Providing facemasks to patients when they arrive, if they are not already wearing one
- Minimizing the number of visitors that come to appointments and encouraging patients to use video-call apps on their cells phones to have others join an appointment
- Making available alcohol-based hand sanitizer, tissues and no-touch trash cans at our entrance and in the waiting room
- Dedicating medical equipment for caring for patients with known or suspected COVID-19
- Cleaning and disinfecting after every patient all non-disposable medical equipment and surfaces in each exam room
When you make your appointment, ask your provider if you will need to follow any other special instructions.
